Hidden Burgh: Archives Project
The University of St Andrews is involved in the Archives Revealed project “Hidden Burgh: restoring Cupar’s place at the heart of Fife”. It is being financed largely by the Archives Revealed funding programme from The National Archives and the Pilgrim Trust, and will last for one year. The University holds the records for the Cupar Burgh from 1364 to 1975 and the objective is to have them fully catalogued so that they are accessible to everyone. Part of the project involves engagement with the Cupar community, giving the local people the opportunity to be part of the project. With that in mind, the University is looking for volunteers who are interested in being involved in some indexing/transcription projects. It is anticipated that the volunteers will work in a group setting at the Cupar Library using copies of the original records.
If you are interested in being part of this exciting venture, please contact Christine Wood at caw23@st-andrews.ac.uk or telephone 01334 461727/462339
Research Enquiries
Cupar Museum is an independently funded organization, established as a local museum for for the benefit of the local community and visitors to our area.
We rely upon the goodwill of visitors, subscribing members of Cupar heritage and occasional grant aid to exist.
We offer an enquiry service to assist anyone with a question about the area's local history, utilising our small library collection which is supplemented by newspaper cuttings and additional archive material.
We have built up a good working knowledge of alternative sources of information if we do not hold the records ourselves.
Family history enquiries should be directed to Fife Family History Society in the first instance, c/o Cupar Library.
Please consider making a donation to the Museum when submitting an enquiry. Donations may be made by cheque, payable to "Cupar Heritage" and sent to our address at Cupar Railway Station, Station Road, Cupar, Fife, KY15 5HX.
Alternatively, you can make a donation in person at the Museum.
